We’ll have silent meditation practice and activities for continuing to build the Latinx sangha at EBMC. Tendremos prácticas y actividades de meditación silenciosa para continuar construyendo la sangha de Latinx en EBMC.

EBMC TEACHERS ARE NOT PAID BY THE CENTER. You are invited to offer a voluntary financial gift to them at the class. The East Bay Meditation Center operates using a generosity-based, gift economics model. This means we charge no set registration fees to attend our events and instead rely on the generous giving of our community. All classes at the Center do come with a financial cost. Class participants are offered an opportunity to make a voluntary gift to EBMC during the registration process or at an event itself. Please note that no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Teacher Bios:
Margarita Loinaz es originalmente de la República Dominicana y ha vivido en el área de la Bahía desde 1970. Aprendió a meditar en su juventud en las tradiciones de Tibet y Vipassana y es madre y abuela. Como médico, sirvió a la comunidad Latina y jornaleros del área de San Francisco por muchos años. Ha estado enseñando la meditación desde el 1995.
Margarita Loinaz is originally from the Dominican Republic and has lived in the Bay Area since 1970. She learned to meditate as a teenager in the Tibetan and Vipassana traditions . She is a mother and grandmother. As a physician, she served the Latinx community and day laborers in the San Francisco area for many years. She has been teaching meditation since 1995.
Melvin Escobar es nacido en Los Ángeles, EEUU, de familia salvadoreña. Ha trabajado por más de 20 años como trabajador social. Melvin aprendió a meditar viendo a su abuela leer la Biblia. A través de la experiencias navegando los retos que enfrentamos durante el proceso de aculturación, Melvin encontró su primera clase de Yoga en el año 2001. Melvin Escobar is El Salvadoran, born in Los Angeles, CA. He has worked for more than 20 years as a social worker. Melvin learned how to meditate watching his grandmother read the Bible. While navigating the challenges we face during the process of acculturation, Melvin found his first Yoga class in 2001. On a daily basis, Melvin continues to learn how these practice create personal and social healing.
